Brian Mayfield

Lead Pastor/Elder

A native of Tennessee, Brian grew up in Texas, where he started in ministry, graduated from Dallas Baptist University & Southwestern Seminary, and met his wife Morgan. After spending 10 years in ministry in Wichita, KS, where both their children (Libby & Nathan) were born, the Mayfields felt the Lord calling them to move to Madison in March 2009. As Lead Pastor for over 8 years now, Brian is visibly passionate about preaching the Word of God, raising up & equipping leaders, and reaching our city and the nations with the Gospel. When he’s not reading 3 books at one time, Brian loves spending time with his family, on the beach and on the baseball field.


Reid Hopkins

Executive Pastor

Reid was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. After graduating from Georgia State University with a Marketing degree, he knew that God had given him a desire to serve the local church in full-time ministry. So, in the summer of 2007, he married his beautiful wife Sarah and they moved to Louisville, Kentucky so that he could begin his studies at Southern Seminary. After graduating with a Master of Divinity, Reid was hired as an Associate Pastor in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he faithfully served for seven years. At the beginning of 2018, Reid was provided with the incredible opportunity to join the staff at The Brook as the new Executive Pastor where he is excited to use his gifts and passions. Reid loves to hang out with his wife and three kids, watch movies, and cheer for his favorite sports teams.


Chip Woosley

Family Pastor

Chip came to The Brook in 2012 to lead our Student Ministry. In May of 2018, he became our Family Pastor, where he has the opportunity to oversee The Brook Littles, The Brook Kids, and The Brook Students. He graduated Auburn in 2004 with a B.S. in Landscape Horticulture, but sensing God’s call into the ministry, he attended Southern Seminary where he graduated in 2008 with a Master of Divinity. He has been married to the love of his life, Kelly, since 2008, and they have three children. Chip desires to see children and students put their faith in Christ, and also to equip and walk alongside their parents.


Trish Pemberton

Preschool & Children's Ministry Director

Trish has lived in Huntsville since she was 6 months old. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Child Development from Calhoun Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Athens State. Immediately after college, Trish served with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) at their UAH campus and also as a Children’s Ministry Intern at Westside Community Church. Before joining the staff at The Brook in the summer of 2018, Trish also gained experience with children as a teacher in FBC Huntsville’s Daycare Program. She is getting married in the fall of 2018 to Eric Pemberton. She loves to read, cook, sew, and play the piano in her spare time.


Emily Hagood

Family Ministry Assistant

Emily is a graduate of Auburn University. She has a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. She married her husband Jon in 2005, and they welcomed the first of their three girls in 2008. Since relocating to Madison in 2010, Emily has become an active part of her community, advocating for local moms as a leader in ICAN Huntsville. After being an active supporter of and volunteer with the family ministries at The Brook for two years, Emily joined the staff in 2016, and has the privilege of serving as our Family Ministry Assistant. She is passionate about seeing children and students mentored and discipled by faithful loving adults and by parents who are guiding and setting an example of daily worship for their children. When taking the occasional break from being a busy mommy, Emily loves spending time with her Missional Community and tackling art projects.


Sue Ann McCoy

Missions Minister

Before officially coming on staff in 2014, Sue Ann has served and led our mission efforts at The Brook for several years. With a contagious heart for Christ, Sue Ann is a driving force in our church family staying on mission both in our community and around the world. A native of Indiana, Sue Ann and her husband, Lawton, have 4 amazing kids. Receiving her degree in Spanish & Sociology from UAH, Sue Ann is fluent in Spanish. She loves cooking, traveling, and enjoying the beach.


Lee Deutschendorf

Worship Minister

Lee was born and raised in Huntsville, making the move to Madison in 2011. He has led worship locally for over 15 years, at churches, camps, and retreats. He and his wife, Britney, joined The Brook in the fall of 2014, and Lee came on staff as Worship Leader in the spring of 2016. He has two beautiful daughters, Carson and Logan, who are sure to cause him trouble when they reach dating age. Lee loves to read, and one of his lifelong goals is to read 52 books each year. He is also an avid runner, with a grand total of two 5k races to his credit. He enjoys taking trips with his family, especially to Orange Beach, Turner Field, and the Tennessee Aquarium.


Nancy Smith

Office Manager

A member of The Brook since 2000, Nancy came on board in 2011 as Office Manager. With a servant’s heart, Nancy leads our communication efforts, keeps us administratively in order, and serves and assists our staff in countless ways. Nancy has also served on our Worship Team for several years. She and her husband, David, have a daughter & son-in-law who live in the Atlanta area and a son at Mississippi State. They enjoy ballroom dancing and relaxing on the beach together, where Nancy hopes to one day retire.


Kristie Cranmer

Financial Secretary

Kristie’s connection to The Brook began in 2008, by joining a Bible Study through her friend, Cheryl Adkins. Over the next 2 years she met some very wonderful ladies, most of whom attended The Brook, playing a large part in leading her to the Lord, showing her the steps to confessing her faith, and leading her to baptism in 2010. Kristie joined The Brook Staff as Financial Secretary the following year. She owns and operates her own tax and bookkeeping company, as well as volunteering at The Brook on The Connection Team and the Preschool Faith Builders Team. Kristie and her husband, Dave, have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. She enjoys family time and whatever that may bring, and has a heart for serving and helping people in need.




Pat Sullivan

A native of Kentucky, Pat and his wife, Suzanne, spent 28 years serving our nation in the US Army. Pat & Suzanne – along with their 2 sons – settled in Huntsville upon retiring. As a member of The Brook since 2010, Pat not only serves as an Elder, but also a Missional Community Leader & Coach. With a passion for serving Christ in the community, Pat is on several voluntary boards & committees. Currently employed by ProModel Corporation, in his spare time Pat enjoys coaching triathletes, running, boating, and spending time with family.


Chase Comeaux

Chase was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana. He and his wife Rebekah were married in 2010 and have one daughter, Izabella. Chase is a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) expert, and is currently helping to build a new production team at Survtech Solutions. After being at The Brook for several years, Chase feels very honored to have been given leadership rolls here as both an Elder and Missional Community Coach. He finds great joy in serving our church body. Chase enjoys spending time with his family, his friends, and anyone else that he can influence for the Kingdom of God. He also likes “boards, bikes, or anything I might hurt myself on.” He has recently started dabbling with planted fish tanks, and he loves studying theology.


Bill Klein

Bill is a native of Seattle, Washington, but has lived in the South for most of his life. He graduated from Athens State University with a degree in Math and Computer Science. Bill and his awesome wife, Cathy, have three children and eight grandchildren, who all live close by. Needless to say, many weekends are filled with little visitors at the Klein home! Bill’s passion lies in spiritual growth. His desire is for followers of Jesus in general, but men in particular, to grow in grace, and in their knowledge of and love for the Savior. Besides their activities at The Brook, Bill and Cathy provide music two nights a week at a recovery ministry in Decatur. And when he’s not chasing grandkids, Bill spends his free time reading, landscaping, cooking, and riding his Harley.


John Wood

John was born and raised in the state of Washington. He and his wife, Irene, along with their two daughters (Kathryn and Elizabeth), lived in Snohomish, WA until 2008, when John accepted a job promotion and moved to Huntsville. John & Irene have been members of the Brook since 2009. John not only serves The Brook as an Elder, but also as a Missional Community leader and Sound Team technician. Always looking for ways to share Christ in the community, John also serves at several non-profits throughout the year. Employed by the Boeing Company since 1984, during his spare time John enjoys shooting, photography, and spending time with family.
